first book titled "Photo Album Quilts." In it, Wendy encourages
the reader to tell stories, portray people and places in fabric using
machine applique techniques.

WQI Members Featured
in Fons & Porter's
Love of Quilting Magazine
Two WQI members, Maribeth Schmit
and Karen Roberts, both from Cedarburg, were featured in the
September/October 2007 issue of Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting
Magazine. On page 114 they can be seen with a quilt they and the
"Never Say Die Quilters" made for a raffle quilt for the Wisconsin
Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts. Their efforts raised over $2,000
for the museum.

Marsha Toshner, WQI
member, Presents Quilt
to Fort Campbell, KY Museum
Marsha Toshner, WQI member from
Wind Lake, WI was recently featured in the Weekend Hi-Liter
newspaper page 4. Marsha created a quilt honoring the 3rd Brigade
of the 101st Airborne Air Assault based out of Fort Campbell, KY.
Marsha's son, Dan, is a member of the Brigade. Marsha showed
the quilt in the Wisconsin State Fair and received a blue ribbon in the
Group Commemorative division. In addition, the quilt received a
first place Highland Memorial Quilt Award. The quilt will be
placed in the museum in Kentucky.

Nancy Kunst Smith,
WQI Board member of Stevens Point, WI
recently joined the ranks of less than 100 other AQS Certified Quilted
Textile Appraisers in the United States. Nancy has been studying for her
certification in the last few years and passed her written and oral
exams in Paducah, KY at the end of April, 2007 along with seven of the
twelve candidates accepted for testing. For

Another WQI Board
member, Maribeth Schmit and fellow WQI member, Karen Roberts, both of
Cedarburg, WI also announced that they have become Certified Quilt
Judges by the National Quilting Association (NQA). Both have been
working towards certification for the past 2 1/2 years and passed their
written and final panel exams held in Columbus, OH in early June.
There are approximately 70 active NQA judges in the US. For more
